Deeper Spring is a photographic expression of an inner aspect of your being photographed in a springtime setting. It is one of the four seasons offered in my Deeper Image Photography. It is combining a part of yourself that longs to be expressed while immersed in an environment of springtime with the results of photographic art, "phototherapy," and, hopefully at times a cathartic form of expression. Picture yourself, it is spring with its green abundance and unfolding of delicate fleeting blossoms, or maybe it is moody... the clouds are dark and grey, the leaves yet bare. Which would you choose? But there can also be the back and forth from sun and heat to cold and hail, the confusion, the uncertainty, the growing pains of transition. Spring holds it all, the whole meaningful, symbolic range to complement the range of emotions that you experience.
Deeper Spring is a part of the Deeper Images Series work that I do, my absolute favorite kind of photography which I want to share with everyone! One of the reasons that I love it so much is because I can spend half a day working closely with an individual, or sometimes more, to co-create a meaningful expression of their selves.
I have been enchanted by the greening of the land in Spring since I was a young girl, and as I have developed my Deeper Images Photography to give voice and satisfaction to the deep desire to not only connect with others on an emotional level, but to also speak for what it like to be a feeling being and living on a planet that like us, holds the paradox of deep beauty and vast suffering and cruelty.
Deeper Image Photography
Each Deeper Image photography series chronicles a life event or story that you are wishing to capture and express through visual artistry. Examples include falling in love, bearing a child, going through a divorce, suffering a loss, or the death of a loved one.
We work together to co-create images that are emotionally poignant and visually stunning for you. The whole process – from the initial consultation through the photo sessions to viewing the final images can be profound, cathartic, and therapeutic.
Deeper Image Photography externalizes the internal processes of the human experience we all share. Even when we feel we are alone, we are not.
Supporting you-the co-creators in this process is my passion, whether the resulting series is for your eyes only, or will be shared with others.
The Process
The whole process is collaboration and co-creation. The first step is a consultation – exploring the life events you wish to chronicle, and what story you want to tell through the images. We will discuss which environments and which "props" to use to best express the revealing of your story. We will map out a plan which will include one or more photo sessions. After we scout locations and complete the photo sessions, I retouch the best images and we meet to finalize the series (this could be anywhere from 5 to 25 images). I then make final edits. The final step is presenting you with digital and/or print copies of each of the final images.
I truly admire people who are gifted with writing words, have that gift to share; and for those who cannot find the words to describe an experience it brings an amazing feeling of connection to be able to read what someone else has skillfully expressed. The same is true for poetry, spoken word, and song, they speak to the human spirit and help us to feel whole and part of the trib of humanity. I myself, I feel challenged with describing things with words; so I feel so relieved to be able to take a photo to describe how I feel. I find that when my subject writes of images that we have created together, the work becomes much richer and more meaningful, laying the foundation for the cathartic phototherapy to take place- a true co-creation.

Sometimes it’s the unexpected things in life that bring us the most joy. A field of rain-drenched Vetch flowers to frolic in with your love. A symbol of extreme beauty and a tangled damp mess. Sometimes just kissing naked under the sunset in a sea of purple flowers after witnessing a double rainbow, lightning bolts, thunder, and warm rain feels like the the most incredible day. Remember to give thanks to the unexpected surprises in life.
